The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Book Edge is rumored to be a powerhouse! A significant performance upgrade is on the horizon, and tech enthusiasts are buzzing with anticipation. But is it too good to be true?
Samsung's next-generation Galaxy Book Edge laptop is expected to deliver an impressive performance boost, thanks to the rumored inclusion of Qualcomm's cutting-edge Snapdragon X2 Elite processor. This chip has already started making waves in the tech community, and early benchmark results are intriguing.
The YouTube channel Hardware Canucks got their hands on the new ASUS Zenbook A14, powered by the Snapdragon X2 Elite (X2E-88-100). It's important to note that this was a pre-production unit, so the final performance may vary. But the initial results are promising. When tested at 31W, the chip outperformed Apple's M5 processor (26W) in multi-core tasks, scoring 48.7% higher in Cinebench 2024. And it didn't stop there—it also showed a 24.2% lead over the M5 in the same test.
But here's where it gets controversial: while the X2 Elite dominated in multi-core tests, it fell behind the M5 in single-core performance by 27%. This might be a concern for users who prioritize single-core tasks. However, the X2 Elite made up for it by completing Blender and Handbrake tasks faster than both the Snapdragon X Elite and M5. But in DaVinci Resolve 20.3, the M5 maintained its lead.
The Snapdragon X2 Elite, introduced in September 2025, is a powerful chip with 18 cores, including 12 prime cores and 6 performance cores. It's built on TSMC's 3nm technology and boasts impressive specs, such as a powerful X2-90 GPU and an NPU capable of up to 80 TOPS.
As we eagerly await more leaks and official news about the Galaxy Book Edge, Samsung is preparing to launch its latest Galaxy Book 6 series in the US this spring, featuring Intel's Core Ultra Series 3 processors.
