Ash entered the game needing 90 rushing yards to overtake Hall. He didn’t just reach that milestone—he demolished expectations. Earlier this season, he powered Mt. Enterprise to a 64–58 win over Bremond, rushing for 501 yards in that single game and setting a new Texas high school single-season rushing record with 4,046 yards. By the end of that Bremond game, his season total stood at 4,322 rushing yards. In addition to the career record, Ash broke Hall’s Texas single-season rushing touchdowns record by scoring six times against Bremond, bringing his season total to 67. The previous mark was 65, set by Aledo’s Johnathan Gray in 2011.
When the final tally rolled in, Ash’s career rushing stood at 11,142 yards, surpassing Hall’s illustrious 11,232-yard career benchmark with the 9-yard run in the semifinal. The accomplishment adds a new chapter to a lineage that once included Hall’s nickname, the "Sugar Land Express," and laid the groundwork for future records that would be pursued by players across the state.
