He revealed that the final movie is slated for an April 2027 release, a date agreed upon with Universal Studios under three specific conditions. Diesel wanted the film to return to its roots in Los Angeles, embrace car culture and street racing, and, most importantly, reunite his character with Brian O'Conner.
For those who may not remember, Paul Walker tragically passed away on November 30, 2013, during the filming of Fast & Furious 7. The filmmakers creatively used CGI, visual effects, and Walker's brothers, Cody and Caleb, to complete his scenes. The final scene of Furious 7 remains a poignant moment, with Dominic Toretto and Brian O'Conner sharing a final farewell. VFX supervisor Joe Letteri emphasized the importance of honoring Walker's memory and ensuring that the audience focused on the performance, not the technical wizardry. The team created 350 shots to complete Walker's scenes.
