A British man's Australian visa has been revoked following his arrest for displaying Nazi symbols. Federal police seized swords adorned with swastika symbology from his Queensland residence, leading to his charges. The 43-year-old UK citizen is accused of three counts of displaying prohibited Nazi symbols and one count of using a carriage service to menace, harass, or cause offense. The man allegedly used social media to promote a pro-Nazi ideology, expressing hatred towards the Jewish community and advocating for violence. During a search, police discovered weapons, including swords with swastika markings, axes, and knives. The AFP claims the man violated Commonwealth law by posting offensive content on X between October 10, 2025, and November 5, 2025. This led to the suspension of his main account, prompting him to create a new one with a similar name. Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke confirmed the visa cancellation and the government's intention to deport the man. He emphasized that Australia welcomes guests on visas, but those who come to spread hate can leave. Burke advocates for new hate speech legislation to strengthen visa cancellation powers, arguing that incitement of hate should be grounds for visa revocation. This action follows the recent visa revocation of South African Matthew Gruter, who attended a neo-Nazi rally. The government's efforts to combat hate speech and extremism are part of a broader strategy to protect Australia from Islamist and far-right threats.
